Pupil Development Grant (PDG)
The Pupil Development Grant is allocated to schools based on the numbers of pupils who are known to be eligible for free school meals (eFSM).
Schools are expected to make the best use of this grant to close the attainment gap that has been identified nationally between those pupils in receipt of free school meals and those that are not. The grant money can be used to the benefit of all pupils, but in a way which is particularly beneficial to those in receipt of free school meals.
For 2019 to 2020, the allocation to Ladywell Green £28,850. This is made up of £21,850 of PDG and £7,000 of Early Years PDG (though this element has yet to be confirmed).
This grant is fully incorporated into the School Development Plan, and will be used in the following ways:
If you have any questions about how the school uses the Pupil Development Grant, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

- To provide staff to deliver targeted intervention programmes for social and emotional, literacy and numeracy skills development. This includes a screening system and early intervention for language skills, providing ongoing professional training in Thrive practices and resources to reduce social and emotional barriers to learning, as well as continuing with intervention programmes in literacy and numeracy such as CatchUp, precision teaching and 5 minute boxes;
- To provide staff time to work with families to improve attendance, and to support families with wider issues through processes such as early intervention and training;
- To subsidise life experience activities such as theatre visits and workshops, and to support high quality resources to engage and support learning;
- To implement systems which enable eFSM pupils to be closely tracked and monitored.
